One Pot Mince, Beans and Pasta |
Ingredients
1 medium onion, chopped finely1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon oil (canola or olive oil)
2 teaspoons dried mixed herbs (10ml)
400 g mince - beef/lamb/turkey/
1 tin tomatoes (400g)
1 tablespoon balsamic Vinegar
500 ml water
2 teaspoons of bouillon powder
200 g wholewheat pasta spirals
1 tin baked beans
Pepper to taste
Parmesan cheese
Method
1. Heat the oil on a medium-high heat in a large saucepan and add the chopped onions. Reduce the heat and cook the onions for a few minutes.
2. Add the garlic powder and mixed herbs. Stir well.
3. Add the mince and stir about well, breaking up the meat, with your spoon. Cook for 5 minutes until the meat is broken up and becoming brown.
4. Add the tomatoes, balsamic vinegar, pepper, with bouillon powder and stir in well.
5. Increase heat and when the mixture is hot, add the pasta and cook for a few minutes. Then reduce the heat and simmer with lid partially covering the saucepan.
6. Cook for about 10-12 minutes, until pasta is al dente.
7. Add the baked beans, with the sauce, stir to heat through.
Serve in bowls with Parmesan cheese
